GONE FISHING
Written By: Cecil MacDougall (May 2000)

He knew everyone for miles around
This one of a kind
From my mother's home town
He lived a simple life
He was a man of vision
I'd stop by to say hello
The sign on the door
Said there's tea on the stove
Gone fishing

His house told a story to every kid
About the things he done
The life he lived
The material world
Was never his ambition
In the cool of the day
We'd always know
The sign on the door
Said there's tea on the stove
Gone fishing

There's a grave on the hill
Overlooking the sea
My grand-daddy meant the world to me
He taught there's more to life
Than just making a living
I stop by to say hello
The sign on the door
Is chiseled in stone
Gone fishing

Now I'm grown I've got all I need
Faith in God and a woman who believes
It takes two
To complete your wishing
Times get hard and we got to go
We hang a sign on the door
There's tea on the stove
Gone fishing
